The challenge

The CEO of Northern Gas, Mark Horsley, upon taking over NGN in 2011 set about radically changing the performance and culture of the company to ensure NGN met and then exceeded Ofgem expectations, and at the same time placed customers at the heart of his strategy for change. There came a point in this journey where Mark recognised that introducing a more agile way of working would enable NGN to move to a higher level of performance again.

The solution

Mark took the decision to appoint a new Innovation, Improvement and Information Director to introduce new ways of working across NGN driven by digitally enabled business capabilities. HiveMind were engaged to support a number of teams across the organisation including Finance, HR, Operations, Networks and Customer Service in adopting agile methods to improve both technology delivery alongside acting as a catalyst for behavioural change and the evolution of an agile mindset from the front line to the boardroom.

The result

In just under 18 months, together HiveMind and NGN delivered the following; An innovative and realisable Digital Strategy, a new high-performance IT operating model and streamlined business operations & customer service models. Successfully Designed & Delivered a full Business "evolution' engagement, impacting key capabilities across NGN
